Review of Stedman's Medical Dictionary (Hardcover)

I am in the health insurance industry, going to school to become a medical coder. This dictionary has been very helpful to me.I believe that this dictionary is geared more toward people that already have a knowledge of medical terminology, as when you look up a word, the definition sometimes is so complex that if you are not familiar with terms, you'll find yourself looking up another word just to define the original definition! This is not a bad thing, as it keeps you learning and learning is power; however if you do not like this type of thing, you may want to look around for another type of medical dictionary. Personally, I love this dictionary.

Product Description
Stedman's Medical Dictionary, 28th Edition has been thoroughly reviewed and updated to make this dictionary the most reliable resource available for healthcare, including medical students, physicians, educators, researchers, and medical language specialists. This new edition includes over 107,000 terms and definitions, more than 5,000 new to this edition. Over 45 consultants from all the major medical and health science specialties have reviewed each word for accuracy and clarity, including new consultants for the specialties of endocrinology, gastroenterology, geriatrics, and rheumatology. The art program has also been extensively enhanced and now includes approximately 1500 images and illustrations.Readers will recognize the authoritative content contained in this new edition, and want to add it to their list of must have references.

Review of NASM Essentials of Personal Fitness Training (Hardcover)

Although I miss the seven phase OPT model of old, the new paradigm has streamlined the structure to progress athletes through the process more efficiently. The illustrations are an upgrade, however there are fewer sample exercises to use.I recommend the NASM program to any serious trainer. This isn't "gym science"; everything in this book is based on years of research in human biomechanics, physiology, and kinesiology. The information you absorb from these pages will make you question why you ever relied on news stand fitness magazines for your workouts.NASM OPT training isn't a fad, a quick-fix, or a unrealistic promise. It is hard work and discipline that is highly effective for those that commit.

In addition to the text and CPT certification, continuing education courses and workshops will help you to truly understand the material with hands on demonstrations and professional instructors to answer your questions.Trainers get certified...real trainers get NASM certified.

Review of Handbook of Nutrition and the Kidney (Paperback)

This highly technical medical text provides an outstanding explanation of the nutritional needs of patients with renal disease. The chapter on calcium and phosphorus homeostasis is particularly well written.Because the writers assume the reader has a fundamental understanding of physiology and pathology of the kidney, this book is has limited usefulness for the casual reader. It is most valuable for medical professionals treating patients with renal disease or the medical student who hopes to get maximum benefit from a nephrology rotation.
