Review of The pH Balance Diet: Restore Your Acid-Alkaline Levels to Eliminate Toxins and Lose Weight (Paperback)

I purchased this book as I began my own research into adapting a pH balanced diet.It has been very helpful.I also believe it is easier to read and absorb the information over some of the other books on the same subject. It offers an easy to follow diet, if one wants to go 100% into the program. For others, the information provided is easy to adapt into any diet program.Simple to follow recipes are included too, some I have tried with good results.

Product Description
Quick and easy yet informative and thorough, The pH Balance Diet tells how to pH-test one's body, correct imbalances, and eliminate toxic overload by following a dietary way of life that works. The book details the physiological process that occurs when digested foods create a pH imbalance. For example, since the body is naturally alkaline, problems arise when it processes too many acid-forming foods such as meat, dairy, wheat and sugar. The resulting excess acid waste leads to low energy levels, poor skin condition, brittle bones and serious health issues, including weight gain. The pH Balance Diet is a system that dramatically reverses this process. It reveals the top 80 alkaline-forming superfoods and specifies which acid-forming foods to avoid. An easy-to-follow section with over 40 recipes- witha special section on drinks that features a "juicing-for-superhealth" program - is included to help guide readers through the plan.

Review of The Simple 0-to-10 GI Diet: Lose Weight with the Easy Food Scoring System Based on the Glycemic Index (Paperback)

This is my favorite book when it comes to weight loss. I have used it twice with great success. After the birth of my first baby I needed to lose 15 lbs and after the birth of my second baby I needed to lose 25 lbs to be back to my pre pregnancy weight. I used the book both times and I use it to make my food choices pretty much every day.

The authors have taken the calorie content of each food and given it a GI Score from 0 to 10 (based on the sugar, protein and fat content, not just the effect it has on your blood sugar).
They have a detailed listing of various foods along with their GIS. For the first phase (2 weeks of quick weight loss) you are allowed to eat 17 points (for women). After the two weeks you move onto the second phase od slower weight loss and you are allowed to eat 20 points. Once you have reached your happy weight you can eat 20 points.
The first couple of weeks on this plan are a bit tough because you have to look up all the foods and add up the points, but after a while it becomes very easy as we tend to repeat a lot of the foods that we eat.
They do have some sample menus and recipes to make it easier for the fist few days.
On this plan you can eat anything you want as long as you stay with-in your point allotment. This book will eventually lead you to good nutrition. As you can guess vegetables and fruits have the lowest GIS and you would want to choose a lot of those in addition to some lean meat, legumes, small quantities of nuts and whole grains.
The authors have a very easy formula to follow VVPC (veggie, veggie, protein, carb)
Divide your plate in 4 and fill it with two parts of veggies, one part lean protein and one part carbs. Doesn't get easier than that.

By keeping my meals smple and easy I have had great success with this diet. I don't feel deprived of anything. Once I lost all the weight that I wanted to lose the book eased me back into eating larger portions or having a treat now and then without going on a binge and gaining all the weight back. By exercising and following this diet, my body looks much better toned now, than it did before I was ever pregnant even though I am at the same weight.

Note to the previuos reviewer. I have tried steamed ground beef. It's actually very tasty with some tomato sauce.

Product Description
Balancing blood glucose by eating the right carbs is vital to losing weight, but the glycemic index's complicated scoring system makes it difficult to keep track of total carb intake. By simplifying the scoring system and creating an easy-to-follow plan, The Simple 0-to-10 GI Diet offers a no-hassle program to lose weight and maintain a healthy long-term diet.
Written by nutrition experts and focused on what you can eat, not what you can't, The Simple 0-to-10 GI Diet takes the work out of GI scoring so dieters can focus on creating a diet that is as tasty as it is healthy. The program is realistic, forgiving, and flexible, and the book includes a 50-page, easy-to-reference table that rates the GI value of common foods based on the authors' unique 0-to-10 scale. By managing their carb intake, rather than avoiding carbs altogether, readers can create healthy eating habits for life and keep the weight off for good.
