Review of The Complete Idiot's Guide to Healthy Weight Loss, 2nd Edition (Paperback)

I am a big fan of this book. I have read it from cover to cover many times and it has helped me tremendously in my weight loss. I have lost 32 pounds. I have love the fact that it is basic common sense, no tricks or magic potions. Your information wasn't a repeat of many diet programs that tell me only what to eat and when -- this book gave me emotional support and suggestions for eating in difficults situations, as at parties and when feeling lonely. Sure I learned what to eat and when, but this book instilled in me a way to gain control of my eating and myself.I realized that I like to eat as a thin person and the weight has stayed off.

Review of The Complete Idiot's Guide to Low-Carb Meals (Paperback)

The book contains a reasonable number of recipes and lots of 'hints' that if you've done ANY reading about low carbohydrate eating, will be superfluous.

The recipes run the gamut of carb counts, though I thought that the bulk of them were much higher carb than is helpful.Following the suggestions in this book and the recipes, it wouldn't be all that hard to hit 80-100++ grams of carb per day... which is simply TOO HIGH for many people who are following low carb lifestyles.

Many recipes call for sugar, white flour, semi-sweet chocolate and cornstarch.Come ON... those are NOT "low carb" ingredients.

This is more or less a repackaged low fat/lower cal cookbook with "low carb" thrown on the cover to try to generate some market share. My copy is being donated to a charity, it isn't worth the space on the shelf for someone interested in real "low carb" cooking.

Product Description

My Boss bought me this book when I was diagnosed with Adult II Diabetes. This book is more precious to me than a raise!I love the way the author composed the book...humor, honesty, great recipes and tips.Highly recommended for any person who wants to live a healthy life style.I have lost 15 lbs and my husband has lost 20.We both want to lose 30 lbs each.If you follow the suggestions in the book you will lose the weight. No matter if it is 30, 50 or 100 lbs...the glycemic works. The book encouraged me to find a good cookbook for glycemic recipes and I found a great one here at Amazon.com.

You will feel better, sleep better and have more energy. The recommendation for "Emergen-C" found in the book is great.I found a box at Rite Aide and this is a great vitamin drink. It can also be found online.Talk about a pure energy boost! Wow...great stuff and pure vitamins.

LOVE this book.Buy it.You will not be sorry. My friends and coworkers are now reading the book and following the very simple suggestions. It is so easy! Not a drastic restrictive diet at all.Very simple.Highly recommend.
