Review of Living Gluten Free for Dummies (For Dummies) [IMPORT] (Paperback)

I hope no one gives any credence to the review that claims (inaccurately) that Danna's book has an inaccuracy. It doesn't!One reviewer wrote that Danna Korn's book had an inaccuracy because she says there's no such thing as an "allergy" to gluten, and he gave the book a bad review as a result (which, by the way, is like saying the entire restaurant is bad because you personally didn't like one item on the menu). But worse yet, this person's critique was faulty. For one thing, gluten is comprised of wheat, barley, and rye. With allergies, you either have an allergy to wheat, and/or to barley, and/or to rye.But you don't have an allergy to "gluten," even though some doctors will deem it that.Furthermore, the reviewer fails to note that Danna's book was reviewed by an M.D., Michelle Pietzak (one of the foremost experts on celiac disease) and Cynthia Rudert, R.D., of Gluten Intolerance Group -- again, one of the foremost experts.Danna doesn't make this stuff up.She's been doing research for 15 years, and has more knowledge than most medical professionals -- and I AM a medical professional.I think it's irresponsible and downright vicious for someone to make such a hasty and mean-spirited post that may prevent others from enjoying the wealth of inspiration and information. The entire essence of the book is about an optimistic approach, and the book is more well-researched and well-supported than any other out there.

Review of Nutrition for Dummies [IMPORT] (Paperback)

Love the book. This book is perfect for the begginning dieter. Usually when someone starts a new lifestyle, which includes a change in activity level and/or diet, they do not know much about what they need to do, as far as exercise, and how they need to eat to accomplish the goals they want.I am a exercise sports science major with a minor in nutrition and I have reccommended this book to many of my personal training clients.Reason being b/c as everyone knows you can not just start an exercise routine, you must change and modify your diet to see good results.Your body needs the right type of fuel and the right amount. This book explains in easy to follow terms how to go about changing your diet to a more healthy one.If you are trying to change your diet, knowing what you should be doing and eating is the place to start.Knowledge is a great thing!Buy the book you will be glad you did.

Review of The GL Diet (Paperback)

Nigel Denby's GL Diet is brilliant. It's simple, easy to understand, warm and inclusive in tone, informative, easy to follow, and the perfect antidote to all the fads, crazy complicated counting, silly restrictive and just awful diets we've been fed for the last few years!

I travel a lot, entertain a lot and generally have a very busy life that does not leave room for a time consuming labour intensive eating regime. This is the one for me.It works, it's easy, and I spend less time thinking and worrying about food that I ever did before. And that's got to be a GOOD THING!

My energy levels are up, I'm back in the gym (there seems to be more time in my life now!)and loving it, and my life is simply simpler.

If you've been caught in a 'diet trap' (as the author calls it) then this is the diet for you.Best thing - noone's noticed anything other than delicious food on the table when I cook (simple, fast recipes included), and noone notices when I'm eating out that I'm 'dieting' and everyone notices how good I look and my energy levels.

Thanks Nigel & Diet Freedom (really good website, answer all your questions fast - www.dietfreedom.co.uk), you've made a ex-frenzied fatty very happy, calm and lighter!
