Review of Evolution Rx: A Practical Guide to Harnessing Our Innate Capacity for Health and Healing (Hardcover)

This book is fabulous!I had my second daughter a month and a half ago, and was struggling to squeeze back into my jeans.I thought I'd never get there, but after following the simple and clear nutrition advice in this book for only a week, they fit!I'm thrilled. It was so easy to do because the book explains not just how you should eat to lose weight, but WHY it works. Another bonus, now my girls and I take our vitamin D sunshine baths whenever we can, and it feels great. Cheers and many thanks to Evolution Rx.

Product Description
A revolutionary-yet simple and practical-guide to staying fit and healthy based on evolutionary medicine.

Countless books and nutrition experts have advised modern readers to adopt the best of the "cave-man diet" that avoids processed foods and refined carbohydrates. But how and what people eat is only the beginning of what the study of human evolution can teach us about overall health and well-being. Based on the latest research in the burgeoning field of evolutionary medicine, Evolution Rx provides readers with not only an understanding of the underlying science of this discipline but with a practical means to making nutritional and lifestyle changes that address a wide range of topics from exercise and injury prevention to allergies, heart health, cancer, Alzheimer's, and more:

- Why eating more fat, not less, can fuel weight loss
- Why human bodies can't register fullness when eating carbohydrates-and what to do about it
- Why getting more sun leads to better health
- Why stretching before exercise-or after an injury- is a bad idea
- Why children should be encouraged to get dirty

Provocative, science-based, and practical, Evolution Rx presents a new and powerful way to understand the human body and how to promote vibrant health.

Review of Diabetic Athlete's Handbook (Paperback)

Energizing! In one word, that is how to describe this book. As a proponent of exercise for people with diabetes, I have found this book and Colberg-Ochs previous edition of it the best book out there to inspire us folks with this condition. What it is most powerful in this book is it gives real life stories and solutions to people with diabetes by people with diabetes. In our foundation, we always recommended Colberg-Ochs's Diabetic Athlete's Handbook as the "answer" book for athletes (and those who want to get active) and will continue to with this edition.

Review of Protein Power: The High-Protein/Low-Carbohydrate Way to Lose Weight, Feel Fit, and Boost Your Health--in Just Weeks! (Paperback)

Dec 2008: I just came across this review and reread it.It is 8 years later and it is still all true.I have had to fight with my weight (I absolutely love to eat) and have had to remind myself that calories count as well. The news is that even after 8 years my glucose tests (A1C blood test) come back excellent, my cholesterol is still at the same levels and my weight is not quite as great as 8 years ago but it is still way better than 220 (I am at 180).I owe the continued improvement in my health to the premises in this book.

July 2000: The past ten years have been hell.I had high cholesterol, high triglycerides and Diabetes, Type II.I was totally unable to get my weight to a reasonable level.I was dieting, exercising, riding a bike 5 days aweek, and doing everything I was told, but my weight hit a wall at 224pounds.

I discovered Protein Power, read it and gave it a try.In only8 weeks I had lost inches from my waist and dropped 20 pounds.Today, after 1.5 years I am in the best health of my life, I weigh 170 lbs, I havestopped taking the Lipator. My blood tests show that my cholesterol, triglycerides and sugar levels are all perfect.

The results are exactlywhat the authors predicted - control the Insulin enemy through diet and thebody will clean itself up and function properly. They presented me an easyto understand explanation of what happens inside my body and how to controlit. They gave me a life style and eating regimen I can maintain the restof my life.My advice to you is buy it, try it and live longer and betterwith it.It is simple!
